Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Manager – Finance & Accounts to lead and manage key finance, accounting, treasury, banking, working capital, financial closure, audit, and compliance activities.

The role will be responsible for ensuring strong financial controls, effective fund management, timely financial reporting, accurate accounting, optimized working capital, and smooth coordination with banks, auditors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on exposure to Treasury, Banking, Fund Planning, Working Capital Management, Accounting, Financial Closing, Audit, P&L, Balance Sheet Finalization, and Compliance, along with the ability to independently manage finance operations and provide meaningful financial insights to senior management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supplier Payments & Accounts Payable

  • Manage and oversee the complete supplier payment process, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • Review payment proposals, vendor balances, outstanding payables, and payment schedules.
  • Ensure appropriate approval and documentation before processing payments.
  • Monitor vendor ageing and optimize payment cycles in line with cash-flow requirements.
  • Resolve supplier payment-related queries and discrepancies.

2. Banking & Bank Account Management

  • Manage day-to-day banking operations, including fund transfers, bank reconciliation, payment processing, and banking documentation.
  • Handle Current Accounts and Fixed Deposits (FDs), including opening, renewal, maturity, and utilization.
  • Maintain strong relationships with banks and financial institutions.
  • Monitor bank charges, interest rates, facilities, and other banking arrangements.
  • Ensure timely bank reconciliation and resolution of outstanding items.

3. Borrowings & Debt Management

  • Manage the organization's borrowings and debt portfolio, including short-term and long-term financing.
  • Monitor loan schedules, interest payments, principal repayments, and financial covenants.
  • Coordinate with banks and financial institutions for financing requirements, renewals, and documentation.
  • Evaluate borrowing requirements based on business cash-flow needs.

 

4. Overdraft & Working Capital Loan Management

  • Manage Overdraft (OD), Cash Credit (CC), and Working Capital Loan facilities.
  • Monitor utilization of working capital limits and ensure optimum utilization of available facilities.
  • Coordinate with banks for renewal/enhancement of working capital limits.
  • Prepare and submit required financial information and documents to banks.
  • Monitor interest costs and identify opportunities for financing-cost optimization.

5. Fund Planning & Treasury Management

  • Prepare and manage daily, weekly, and monthly fund-flow plans.
  • Ensure availability of funds for critical business requirements, supplier payments, statutory payments, salaries, and other obligations.
  • Monitor cash positions across bank accounts and optimize fund utilization.
  • Develop effective fund planning and treasury management strategies.
  • Identify potential cash-flow gaps and arrange funds proactively.

6. Cash Flow Management

  • Prepare and monitor cash-flow forecasts and projections.
  • Analyze actual versus projected cash flows and identify variances.
  • Manage working capital effectively by monitoring receivables, payables, inventory, and other cash-flow drivers.
  • Ensure adequate liquidity while minimizing idle funds and financing costs.
  • Provide regular cash-flow and liquidity updates to senior management.

7. Accounts Closing & GL Accounting

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts closing process.
  • Ensure accurate and timely posting and review of General Ledger (GL) accounting entries.
  • Review journal entries, provisions, accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and other accounting adjustments.
  • Ensure proper reconciliation of GL accounts, sub-ledgers, bank accounts, vendor/customer balances, and inter-company accounts.
  • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure accuracy of financial records.

8. Balance Sheet Finalization

  • Take ownership of Balance Sheet finalization and ensure accuracy of all balance sheet schedules.
  • Review provisions, accruals, fixed assets, loans, advances, receivables, payables, and other balance sheet items.
  • Ensure proper accounting treatment and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare balance sheet schedules and management reports for review by senior management and auditors.

9. Audit & Financial Reporting

  • Manage and coordinate statutory, internal, tax, and financial audits.
  • Coordinate with auditors and provide required schedules, documents, reconciliations, and explanations.
  • Ensure timely closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support preparation and review of financial statements and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.

10. P&L Management

  • Monitor and review the Profit & Loss (P&L) on a monthly basis.
  • Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, operating costs, and major variances.
  • Prepare variance analysis and provide actionable insights to management.
  • Work with business teams to identify cost-control and profitability improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure accurate classification and accounting of revenue and expenses.

11. Statutory & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial and statutory compliances applicable to the organization.
  • Coordinate with internal and external consultants for tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure timely filing of required returns, payments, and submissions.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records for compliance and audit purposes.
  • Keep track of changes in applicable financial, taxation, and regulatory requirements.

12. Internal Controls & Process Improvement

  • Establish and strengthen financial controls, SOPs, and accounting processes.
  • Identify process gaps and implement corrective and preventive measures.
  • Ensure adherence to delegation of authority and approval mechanisms.
  • Drive automation and process improvements across finance and accounting operations.
  • Ensure proper segregation of duties and minimize financial and operational risks.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • CMA / MBA Finance / M.Com or equivalent qualification.
  • 7–10 years of relevant experience in Finance & Accounts, Treasury, Banking, and Working Capital Management.
  • Strong hands-on experience in GL accounting, financial closing, Balance Sheet finalization, P&L management, and audits.
  • Strong knowledge of banking operations, OD/CC limits, working capital loans, borrowings, and fund management.
  • Excellent understanding of cash-flow management and working capital cycles.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/accounting systems.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced business environment.
