The purpose of this role is to design, integrate, manage, and optimize payment gateway solutions to ensure secure, reliable, and seamless payment processing across all digital platforms. The role is responsible for end-to-end ownership of payment transactions, including authorization, settlement, reconciliation, refunds, and dispute handling, while ensuring regulatory compliance, fraud prevention, and high payment success rates.
This position plays a critical role in enabling revenue flow, improving customer payment experience, and maintaining strong relationships with banks, acquirers, and payment service providers, while continuously enhancing system performance and operational efficiency.
Define and own the product roadmap for payment gateway solutions
Gather and prioritize product requirements based on business goals, customer needs, and market trends
Work closely with engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable payment features
Manage payment flows including authorization, capture, refunds, chargebacks, and settlements
Drive integrations for payment methods including cards, UPI, wallets, net banking, and subscriptions
Ensure compliance with regulations such as PCI-DSS, local banking norms, and data privacy laws
Analyze transaction data, success rates, and drop-offs to improve conversion
Work closely with backend, frontend, and QA teams
Collaborate with risk, compliance, and fraud teams to enhance security
Coordinate with external partners including banks, payment processors, and networks
Define KPIs and track product performance and adoption
Knowledge of MPI / ACS / Payment Gateway flow
Knowledge of payment authentication and authorization
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Candidate should have 8–10 years of relevant experience
Exposure to the payments domain (e.g., POS driving, banking systems) is an added advantage
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Innovative thinker with a can-do attitude and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
Strong understanding of payment gateway architectures and transaction lifecycles
Experience with REST APIs, JSON, OAuth, and webhook handling
Programming experience in at least one language: Java, Python, PHP, or .NET for merchant integration
Knowledge of databases (SQL / NoSQL) and payment reconciliation process
Familiarity with encryption, tokenization, and secure data handling
Experience with cloud platforms
